Cemeteries
- Part 1
On May 4 I visited the
Metairie and Greenwood cemeteries. These are two of the cemeteries that
are visible from the freeway as one enters New Orleans on the way from
the airport. Interment in tombs is more common than burial in New
Orleans because of the high water table, and many of the tombs are
quite elaborate. I treated the trip as a photographic project - I took
most of the pictures for their visual interest.
This headstone looks a
little to me like an old Packard grille.
