This web site is a comprehensive collection of links to sites related to old records and phonographs. It was created by Tyrone Settlemier, and is the best such page that I know of. I am keeping my own links on this page just for old times' sake, since Tyrone's links page is so much better than mine.
The 78rpm Home Page
This site has informative articles and advice on collection and playback of 78s, some articles on research findings, pretty pictures of labels, and links to many other interesting sites.
The Wolverine Antique Music Society Home Page
This site has a lot of nice pictures of labels, album cover art, historical images, etc. It also has technical tips, and some sound bites, including the history of the phrase "Play That Thing" that is always shouted near the end of Dippermouth Blues (AKA Sugar Foot Stomp).
Antique Record Machines
This site is maintained by Tim Gracyk, a serious collector. It has a lot of interesting opinions, tips, articles, and tributes to early recording stars, plus links to more sites.
78 Quarterly
78 Quarterly is a magazine that is published at irregular intervals, not quarterly (go figure). It has numerous articles about the music business during the 78 era. Most of the articles are about blues musicians and labels. The web site contains a few articles plus information about how to subscribe. What does one call a magazine that is not published regularly? A non-periodical?
Nauck's Vintage Records
Nauck's Vintage Records does mail auctions of 78s and related materials, and also sells books and other reference materials related to the hobby of record collecting.
Home Page of Brad the Impaler
Brad Clark, A.K.A. Brad the Impaler, also has a web jukebox. He uses RealAudio, MP3, and Yamaha VQF format audio. He also has other cool stuff related to micro-power FM broadcasting, satellite broadcasting, and trains and railroads.
Jim & Marianne's Jukebox
This is another web jukebox from someone's private collection of 78s. The sounds clips use MP3 and WAV formats. The selections are mostly vocalists from the acoustic era. The site also includes graphics of sheet music and record labels.
Magic Sound Restoration
This is a company that transfers LPs and 78s to CD for a fee. I have not used their services, but their prices look reasonable.
